Tornado History: Hoisington, Kansas F4 Tornado 


On this day in 2001, a deadly F4 tornado struck Hoisington, Kansas. The estimated peak wind speeds for this tornado are unavailable at this time. 

The length of this tornado’s path was 5 miles, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wichita, Kansas. 

According to the NWS in Wichita, the width of this tornado’s path was 660 yards. Sadly, the tornado killed 1 person and injured 28 people. 


200 homes and 12 businesses were destroyed and 85 homes were severely damaged. 200 homes received minor to moderate damage.
