A second later the driver drives away! Watch the moment a red truck takes a ride in a tornado in Elgin, Texas in the video below.
The incredible footage in the above video was captured by storm chaser Brian Emfinger. You can read the description for the YouTube uploaded video below.
“Unbelievable video of the Elgin, TX tornado crossing the road and hitting a red truck. The truck is blown over on its side, spins, and is then blown back right side up…a second later the driver drives away!”

The driver of the red truck, named Riley Leon, fractured his back. According to Leon, the truck was banged up and wasn’t drivable anymore. However, there’s an excellent ending to this story!
After seeing the video, Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet in Fort Worth, TX announced on Facebook that they would be donating a new truck (2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT All Star Edition in Cherry Red) to Leon and his family. You can read the dealership’s Facebook post below:
“Chevrolet, together with Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet of Fort Worth, TX, are donating a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT All Star Edition in Cherry Red to Riley Leon and his family after he survived a powerful tornado while driving his Silverado. We are thankful Riley is safe, commend his driving skills during a frightening situation, and our hearts are with other families in Texas that have been affected by these storms. To help aid the recovery efforts in Texas, Chevy Cares is donating $50,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. Due to the quick action of the team at Bruce Lowrie Chevrolet, the new truck will be presented to Riley and his family on Saturday, March 26, at the dealership.”

The tornado in the above video was the one that swept through parts of Elgin, Texas on the 21st March, 2022. The tornado caused significant damage including destroying a few mobile homes and heavily damaging homes. At least 1 person was injured.
