On this day in 2009, a deadly EF-4 tornado with estimated peak wind speeds of 170 miles per hour (mph) struck Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
The length of this tornado’s path was just under 25 miles, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Nashville, Tennessee.
According to the NWS in Nashville, the width of this tornado’s path was 750 yards. Sadly, the tornado killed 2 people and injured 58 people.

10 tornadoes, including the Murfreesboro tornado, occurred on the 10th April, 2009 in Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia. It was dubbed the Good Friday tornado outbreak (find out more here).
