Man films incredible encounter with tornado in Illinois

Back in 2015, a driver captured incredible video of the destructive tornado that swept through Rochelle and Fairdale, Illinois (watch below). 

The footage in the above video was captured by Sam Smith. Talking to ABC 7 Eyewitness News, Smith said that he was on I-39 when the tornado came right up on his truck. 

He then said that there was nowhere to go because traffic stopped behind him. Smith then said he backed up under an overpass and watch the tornado pass in front of him. 

“I’m just glad he’s still around to tell this story! Smith’s incredibly lucky…”
